2017 GCB JAGUARS 3-DAY LEAGUE – wins for East Bank, Essequibo, Georgetown and Lower Corentyne

As East Bank continued batting on Sunday 1st October, 2017, from their close of play score of 62 for 2 after 25 overs, they accomplished their goal by attaining 145 in 46.2 overs, winning with 4 wickets in hand. Sachin Singh 23, Dahshan Persaud 28, Sherfane Rutherford 16, Steven Jacobs 17 and Ronaldo Ali Mohamed 15 not out. Bowling for West Berbice, Gudakesh Motie 3 for 42, while Derrick Mc Calmon, Andrew Dutchin and Leon Andrews each collected 1 wicket for 37, 16 and 16 runs singly.

 

Over at Port Mourant, Essequibo continued to strike, after having a 204 runs lead over Upper Corentyne and was able to attain a total of 454 runs all out after 97.3 overs, which placed them in a 297 lead. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Eon Hooper sweeped up 7 wickets for 116 runs and David Latchaya 3 for 78. Upper Corentyne then went into bat but fell short of achieving their target of 298, attaining only 128 runs, Essequibo winning round 5 by 169 runs. Bowling for Essequibo, Anthony Adams picked up 6 off 29, Ronaldo Adams 2 for 52 and Akini Adams 1 for 14 runs.

 

At the Tuschen ground, East Bank Essequibo, West Demerara resuming on 43 for 2 from 14 overs, reached 167 for 8 off 52 overs at lunch. Akshaya Persaud made a solid 51, Teenage sensation; Ashmead Nedd ripped through the West Demerara top order and grabbed 6 for 70 from 23 overs by lunch. On resumption from lunch, Steven Sankar was introduced to the bowling attack and claimed 3 relatively quick wickets to finish off his bowling for 19 runs as Demerara was bowled out for 186. Ashmead Nedd ended with 6 for 76 and Paul Wintz 1 for 42. Georgetown needing 124 for victory, reached their target off 21.5 overs. Robin Bacchus hit a consolidated unbeaten 52 and Christopher Barnwell 47,bowling for West Demerara, Keshram Seyhodan took 3 for 31. Georgetown won the match by 6 wickets.

 

On day three over at Lusignan, Lower Corentyne was 405 for 7 declared in 109.3 overs. East Coast then took the crease Kevlon Anderson finished off his batting attaining 120 off 316 balls, Seon Hetymer 48 off 73 and Veerasammy Permaul 17 off 9 balls. On the Lower Corentyne bowling line up, Cordel Mars picked up 1 for 47, Kumar Bishundyal 4 for 51 and Ameer Khan2 for 73 runs. In the East Coast innings, they were only able to attain 97 all out in 34.5 overs with Ramnarine Chatura top scoring with a fair 33 runs, Joshua Persaud 17 and CHanderpaul Hemraj 12. They were able to bat again but still fell short of reaching their goal, only being able to combine 167 runs as the batting table fell cheaply with one half century from Ameer Khan, Kamesh Yadram also contributed 31 and Ramnarine Chatura 26. Raunn Johnson picking up 6 wickets from 36 runs and Kasim Khan 2 for 57. Lower Corentyne won by an innings and 141 runs.

 

This concludes round 5 leaving round 6 to commence on Friday 6th October, 2017.
