An uncertain, nerve rending but exciting climate, permeated the National Stadium-Providence, as the curtains opened on the commencement of the Finals of the Guyana Cricket Board and Hand In Hand Mutual Fire Insurance Company Limited Under-19 Inter County One Day 50 overs Tournament.

During the pre-match training activities National Select Under-17 appeared keen on attempting to create an unlikely upset over defending champions Demerara. However, Demerara disseminated high levels of confidence, as they remained intent on maintaining their dominance throughout the competition.
The match, saw Demerara winning the toss, and inviting the National Select Under-17 Team to take first strike. Alex Algoo and Sachin Singh, took the score to 20 before Bhaskar Yadram induced a false stroke from Algoo to have him caught and bowled for 14. With the score on 65, Looknauth deceived Alphius Bookie with a well tossed delivery, to have him stumped by Joshua Persuad for 1.

In reply, Demerara started cautiously reaching 35 in the tenth over, before Raymond Perez on 13, sought to gather quick runs off Gevon Schults and ended up, holding out to Lance Roberts running in from long off. With the batsmen having crossed, Schults then sent back Bhaskar Yadram the very next delivery, caught behind by Kevin Christian, to put Demerara in a spot of bother at 35 for 2 in pursuit of 131 for victory. Ashmead Nedd then prompted a false stroke from Garvin Boodwah to have him caught behind by Christian for 18.
