2017 GCB/Jaguars 3-Day League…Round 1 Day 2 ..wins for Upper Corentyne & East Bank

As the action continued on Sunday 3rd September, 2017, of round one day-two of the GCB/Jaguars 3-Day League, over at Albion, Lower Corentyne continues their batting order after the loss of wickets yesterday of Wahied Edwards 15 and Kevlon Anderson 4 run. Jason Sinclair was also dismissed by Anthony Adams without adding to his 31. Jason Hetemyer and Devon Clements also scored double figures to the total before lunch with 20 and 25 respectively. As play sustained lower Corentyne equated 175 all out to their total in 81.2 overs. Batsman number eight, Alex Algoo allotted an acceptable 30 runs while top scorer for the innings was Kassim Khan with 43 runs before being run out.

 

Bowling for Essequibo, the underdog, Anthony Adams picked up a brilliant 6 wickets off 51 runs while Akinie Adams picked up 2 wickets for 47 runs, Ricardo Adams and Vejai Surujpaul both took a wicket each.

 

At the end of day two, Essequibo concluded play with an overall lead of 207 by adding 108 runs after the loss of 6 wickets. Kevon Boodie scored 31 after which he was out LWB by Kevin Umroe, Kemol Savory also added 26 to the score card being the only two to gain double figures before close of play. Raul Johnson picked up a mere 3 wickets thus far as well as Kevin Umroe with 2 wickets. Play resumes tomorrow at approximately 09 00 hours.

 

Meanwhile at Bush Lot, in West Berbice’s 2nd innings Javed Karim scored 30 in 73 balls, Quacy McPherson 25 from 69, Steffon Adams 21 from 21 balls and Raffel Estraido 21 from 33 balls. West Berbice was able to tally 163 off 55.5 overs. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Sean Pereira picked up 3 wickets for 36 runs, Eon Hooper 2 for 60 and Demetri Cameron 2 for 33. Upper Corentyne needed 104 to win the 2nd innings.

 

Batting for Upper Corentyne, Andy Mohan scored 37 and Anthony Bramble 18. Bowling for West Berbice, Gudesh Motie whipped up 7 wickets off 33 and Leon Andrews 1 off 32 runs. Upper Corentyne summed up 106 runs winning the second innings by 2 wickets.

 

In the match, East Bank versus Georgetown, East Bank totaled 103 all out after 36.1 overs. Ershad Ali recorded 32 runs off 38 balls and C. Austin 10 from 6 balls. On Georgetown’s bowling line up, Gajanan Suknanan picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Paul Wintz, Qumar Torrington, and Devon Lord also picked up 2 wickets each for 19, 12 and 0 runs respectively. Joshua Wade was able to pick up a wicket also in the innings.

 

Georgetown was bowled out for 56 runs with an additional 5 wickets falling without any addition to the scoreboard. At the end of the day, Georgetown needed 83 runs to win but failed to reach the designated target losing by 26 runs at the end of 25.1 overs. Sunil Singh was the only double figured batsman, scoring 32 runs in 61 balls. Bowling for East Bank, Totaram Bishun picked up 4 wickets for 15, Ronaldo Ali Mohamed 1 for 15 and Sherfane Rutherford 5 for 11 to end with a match hall of 12 for 59.
