2017 GCB/JAGUARS 3-DAY LEAGUE – (ROUND 5 DAY 2) Centuries for Foo and Anderson

On Saturday 30th September, 2017, on day two of the 2017 GCB/Jaguars 3-Day tournament, with East Bank previously closing off play with 161 for 7, they resumed play totaling 191 before they were all out after 62.2 over, leading by 51 runs at the end of first innings. Batsman number seven, Mark Rhobe 23 off 44 balls and Sage Hathiramen11 off 13. Bowling for West Bank, Gudakesh Motie picked up 5 for 39, Ceon Glasgow 2 for 36, and Derrick Mc Calmon, Andrew Dutchen along with Leon Andrews each picked up a wicket. In West Berbice’s 2nd innings, they accumulated 190 all out after 67.2 leaving East Bank to chase 140 runs for the win. Raphael Estriado and Arthley Bailey contributing 37 and 75 respectively, and a half century from Gudakesh Motie 50. East Bank then went in and accumulated 62 for 2 off of 25 overs with Sachin Singh on 18 and Darshan Persaud on 10 not out.

 

With sunny weather at Port Mourant, Upper Corentyne put up a 157 lead after summing up an acceptable 310 before they were all out in 81.3 overs. David Latchaya and Anthony Bramble continued their batting achieving the two top scorers in the innings with Latchaya putting up a brilliant 105 in 132 balls, while Bramble added 79 to the total while the bottom order batsmen fell drastically. In Essequibo’s bowling line up, Anthony Adams picked up 7 for 91, Ricardo Adams picking up 2 for 78 and Keemo Paul picking up 1 wicket. Essequibo in their 2nd innings, at the close of play were in a 204 runs lead while they accumulated 361 for 3 in 63 overs. Kevin Boodie 59, Keemo Paul contributing a brilliant knock with 177 off 126 balls; Ricardo Adams along with Keemo Paul both not out with 62 and 37 individually.

 

Over at Lusignan, we saw Lower Corentyne attaining 343 for 3 with Jonathon Foo brilliantly acquiring 152, Wahid Edwards with 25 and Kevlon Anderson not out on 102, a very acceptable knock by the top order batsmen.

At Tuschen ground on the East Bank of Essequibo, Georgetown resuming on their overnight score of 1 without loss, raced to 183 for 2 off 26 overs by lunch, with Raymond Perez and Christopher Barnwell unbeaten on 89 and 65 respectively. On resumption from lunch, West Demerara made critical inroads to the Georgetown batting line up, removing Christopher Barnwell LBW to Richie Looknauth, for a brilliant 86, which included 7 fours and 7 sixes. Shortly after Barnwell’s dismissal, Raymond Perez brought up his majestic century with a well-placed single which included 7 fours and 6 sixes. Raymond Perez contributed an vast 138, Steven Sankar 48, and Ramaal Lewis 68 runs. Georgetown’s innings ended with 396 all out from 81.2 overs. Bowling for West Demerara, Travis Persaud 3 for 12, Richie Looknauth and Keshram Seyodan earning 3 wickets for 96 and 104 runs individually whle Mahendra DHanpaul also picked up a single wicket.

Tomorrow being the last day of round 5, cricket lovers and general public can look forward to an exciting finish by the eight teams from 9:30 a.m.
