GCB NSSCL 2016… Patentia Secondary, West Demerara Secondary to clash in WBD final

Patentia Secondary and West Demerara Secondary registered crushing victories over Goed Fortune and La Grange respectively in their West Bank Demerara zone semi-final clash played recently as the 2016 edition of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) continues.

Playing at Belle Vue, Patentia recorded an easy nine wicket victory after they dismissed Goed Fortune for a paltry 34 in 7.4 overs. Wazim Rohaman and Satesh Bisram inflicted most of the damage claiming 4/13 and 3/4 respectively for Patentia. Patentia then got their target for the loss of one wicket as they completed their chase in the 22nd over scoring 37/1. Parmanand Gootiprasad and Kumar Ramlakan completed the chase scoring 13 not out and 5 not out. Nick Albert took the lone wicket to fall.

In the second semi-final also played at Bell Vue ground, West Demerara romped to a 110 run victory over La Grange. Batting first, West Demerara racked up 154/4 in 15 overs due to rain. Aaron Seepersaud made an unbeaten 54 while Daneshwar Kowlessar contributed 32. Bowling for La Grange, Raul Phillip and Ryan Legall had one wicket apiece.

La Grange in reply were swept away for 44 in 7 overs. Totaram Shivkumar was the only batsman to reach double figures with 11. Bowling for West Demerara, Kumar Ferera claimed a hat trick to finish with figures of 3/6, Fazal Jabbar claimed 2/2, Aftab Basir took 2/3 and Daneshwar Kowlessar had 2/6.

Over at Enterprise, Cummings Lodge beat Golden Grove by 81 runs. Batting first, Cummings Lodge blasted 156/2 in 20 overs. Andrew Samaroo struck 73 including 11 fours, Kishore Seepersaud made 26 and Damion Mohamed chipped in with 22. Keon Osborne took the only two wickets to fall finishing with 2/28.

In reply, Golden Grove lasted 13 overs as they were dismissed for 75 despite 29 from Kevin Campbell. Bowling for Cummings Lodge, Davinand Khemraj bagged 4/19 and Sankar Sahadeo took 2/1.

In another match at Enterprise, International Business Education (IBE) trounced Plaisance by 142 runs. IBE scored 164/9 in their 25 overs. Khemraj Pannram top scored with a half century (53). Bowling for Plaisance, Sultan Khan had 4/27 and Gregory Sanidford took 3/44.

Plaisance, in reply made an embarrassing 22 all out in 10 overs. Tameshwar Permaul, Daniel Mootoo and Vishnu Nandlall all had three wickets for five runs.

The West Bank Demerara zone final between Patentia and West Demerara is being played today at Belle Vue while President College playing Enterprise Secondary at Enterprise at Enterprise from in a rescheduled East Coast Demerara zone semi-final match.
