GCB plans a Grand Dinner to honor Legend Alvin Kallicharran …..2nd edition of ‘The Guyana Cricketer’ to be launched also

The Members and Executive of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) have planned a grand Dinner to be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Savannah Suite, Guyana Pegasus starting at 18:00hrs, to honor former Guyana and West Indies great batting legend, Alvin Kallicharran.

Alvin Kallicharran has been invited to Guyana by the Guyana Cricket Board for a month to impart his vast knowledge and expertise with our youths across the country. It is the first time in his career that he has been invited back to Guyana to do something meaningful for cricket in the region and he is very happy and excited to be back. So far, there has been positive feedback on his coaching sessions with the youngsters. He has been conducting technical and theoretical sessions with the youths are various grounds. Also, he has been observing and providing guidance to the players who recently competed in the GCB/Raj Singh Insurance Brokers U-19 3-Day Inter-County Competition, and is currently doing the same in the ongoing GCB/Raj Singh Insurance Brokers U-19 50-Overs Inter-County Competition which final is slated for Saturday at the Everest ground.

Kallicharran, who was prominently featured in the second edition of ‘The Guyana Cricketer’ magazine in an exclusive interview with the Editor of the magazine, will be the feature speaker at the Dinner. After the Dinner, there will be a short session with Kallicharran autographing copies of the magazine, followed by a cocktail hour to give his loving fans the opportunity to mingle with him.

The second edition of ‘the Guyana Cricketer’ magazine will be formally launched at this Dinner. Last year to commemorate its 70th anniversary, the GCB created history by launching the first edition of this magazine, which turned out to be one of the Board’s major successes. And, it is anticipated to be a bigger success this year as well. Its content includes articles on past and present cricketers, competitions fixtures, and cricket reports among other knowledgeable information.
