GCB/NSSCL 2016…..Bookie’s century leads Christ Church to final

A brilliant century by skipper Alphius Bookie led Christ Church to victory over Richard Ismael in a rescheduled North Georgetown zone semi-final today at GNIC ground as the 2016 edition of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) continues.

Richard Ishmeal earned the right to face Christ Church in the rescheduled semi-final after they won a protest against School of Nations who defeated them in the previous round but fielded a player who was ineligible to play because of his age.

Batting first Christ Church score 159/6 in 25 overs. Skipper Bookie led the way with a responsible 110 not out off just 88 balls. Bookie’s knock included 11 fours and seven sixes. Ariel Tilho gave good support as he contributed 20. Bowling for Richard Ismheal, Kristoff Nedd took 3/26.

Richard Ishmeal replying to 159 made 80 all out in 16.2 overs to give Christ Church a comfortable victory. Bowling for Christ Church, Renaldo Mohamed took 4/10 and Bookie had 2/22. With this victory Christ Church will now face Chase Academy in a North Georgetown Zone final clash.

Over at Zeeburg, Saraswat Secondary booked a place in the West Coast Demerara zone final against SVN College when they defeated Zeeburg Secondary by 40 runs.

Saraswat Secondary sored 166/9 in their 30 overs batting first. Rajesh Rampersaud top scored with 45 and Dexroy Hyman made 23. Bowling for Zeeburg, Andre Seepersaud took 4/11 and Jetendra Ghisiwian had 2/29.

Zeeburg Secondary fell for 126 in 22.5 overs in their reply. Andre Seepersaud top scored with 33 and Parmanand Prabhudyal made 30. Bowling for Saraswat Secondary, Kevin Latchoo had 3/32.

The NSSCL continues today with the North Georgetown zone final clash between defending champions Chase Academy and Christ Church at GCC from 10:30 hours while at Zeeburg, Saraswat Secondary and SVN will do battle in the West Coast Demerara zone final.
