Local cricket teams record convincing victories against USA Cricket Academy‏

Local teams, West Demerara U-18, Demerara U-15 and East Coast U-13 recorded convincing victories in their matchup with USA teams of the same age group in the USA Academy Tour of Guyana 2015.

At the Wales Community Centre ground, West Demerara thumped USA by 64 runs. Batting first, West Demerara posted 193 all out in 49.2 overs. Akshaya Persaud led the way with 58 and got support from Daniel Base and Chaitnarine Poor an with 26 and 20 respectively. Chetram Persaud was the pick of the bowlers with for USA with 3/23. He got support from Josh Patel and Gauranshu Sharma who captured two wickets each. In reply, USA was bowled out for 129 in 41.2 overs. Only Nandan Lolisety put up a fight with 25. West Demerara’s Nicolai Reddy and Travis Persaud bagged 3/16 and 3/28 respectively.

Over at the Demerara Cricket Club, Demerara U-15 thrashed USA by 60 runs in a match that was reduced to 30 overs per side. Demerara posted 144/4 in their allotted overs. Aahmead Nedd was unbeaten on 38 while Alphius Bookie and Robin Williams scored 31 each. Michael Katwaroo was the primary wickets taker with 3/25.
In their response, USA never got going and was eventually bowled out for 84 in 29 overs. Sanjay Stanley and Nankishan Dass made 21 and 19 respectively, while Avin Gangadin and Jospiece Jones accounted for 4/11 each.

At the Ogle Community Centre ground, East Coast U-13 completed a 55-run victory. East Coast managed 138 all out. Hemraj Mohabir top scored with 45. Among the wickets for USA were Yash Khangura and Aditya Sharma with three wickets each.

The Tour continues with the fifth round on Saturday, 4th April 2015. East Coast U-18 will be in action at the Enmore Community Centre ground, Guyana U-15 at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, and Everest U-13 at the Ghandi Youth Organization ground.

Then the sixth and final round would be on Sunday, 5th April 2015. East Bank U-18 will compete at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Guyana U-15 at the Police Sports Club ground, and the Bel Air Rubix U-13 at the Ogle Community Centre ground.
