National female U-19 squad continues intense training

As part of their preparation for the upcoming West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) regional Under-19 T20 competition, the national female Under-19 cricket squad continued their intense training yesterday at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, under head coach Julian Moore.

The tournament in billed for June 22 to 25 in the Twin Island Republic, and is organised by four territories interested in developing their young female cricketers.
The other participating teams are hosts Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Windward Islands.

Currently 22 players were selected and are part of a six-day encampment which commenced last Monday at the Guyana Cricket Board’s Training Facility at La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara.

At the end of the camp on Saturday the squad will be cut to 14 members and will leave Guyana on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, at the conclusion of training yesterday, Moore told this publication that turf practice remains a major setback.

However, Moore indicated that the players are making full use of the LBI indoor facility.

Moore is being assisted by coach Michael Hyles while Devita Gobin has been appointed assistant coach/manager of the team.
