Regional U-15 50-over tourney…Bookie, Sinclair guide Guyana to 44-run win over Barbados; T&T and Winwards also win

Middle order batsman Alphius Bookie stroked a fine half century and spinner Kevin Sinclair grabbed 4-38 from 10 overs as Guyana defeated Barbados by 44 runs in their second round game of the Regional U-15 50-over tournament yesterday in Jamaica.
Bookie slammed seven fours in his top score of 65 off 108 balls to lead his team to a commanding 227-7 off 50 overs after they decided to bat at Melbourne. Openers Bhaskar Yadram and Joshua Persaud set the tone for the Guyanese with sensible batting.
Yadram cracked 36 (6×4) from 70 balls while Persaud reached the boundary five times in a brisk 28. Ashmead Need supported with 24 (5×4), Kurt Lovell 19 (3×4) and Kevin Sinclair 16 and extras contributed 30.
Shakee Marshall was the pick of the bowlers with 2-26 from five overs. Barbados threatened somewhat, but were restricted for 181-8 from their allotted overs in reply. Shian Brathwaite and Nico Reifer gave them a bright start with Brathwaite hitting four fours and one six before he retired hurt on 45 after facing 85 balls.
Reifer was caught and bowled by Sagar Hetheramani for 36 (5×4). The Bajans were then pegged back by steady bowling from Kevin Sinclair who trapped Jadan Jones LBW for 2 before he had Joshua Corbin caught and bowled for 15 and Joshua Bishop stumped by Christopher Campbell for 12.
Camarie Boyce and Micah Thornhill chipped in with 13 and 10 respectively. Collin Barlow supported Sinclair with 2-41 and Hetheramani 1-32. At Kensington Park, Trinidad and Tobago led by 152 from opener Chrystian Thurton hammered Leeward Islands by 209 runs.
Thurton slammed eighteen fours and one six off 141 balls and got valuable support from Brandon Singh 59 and Navin Bedaisse with an even half century.
Jerrilious Louis claimed 3-53 and Marcus Duberry had 2-55. Leeward Islands replied with 112-7 in 30.2 overs in response to T&T’s 321-6 from 50 overs; three of their batsmen were unable to bat due to injuries. Joshua Grant scored 46; Avinash Mahabirsingh picked up 2-6 and Justin Gangoo 2-20.
