Regional U15 tourney… Wins for Trinidad and Tobago, Windwards, but rain ruins Guyana, Barbados fixture

Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands registered victories when the latest round of matches in the regional U15 50-over tournament concluded yesterday.

At the Guyana National Stadium, Trinidad and Tobago defeated Jamaica by nine wickets (D/L). Batting first Jamaica managed 125 all out in 40.1 overs. Michael Thompson scored 26, Geordae Seymour 24 and Kirk McKenzie 19; extras assisted with 30. Jayden Seales bagged 4-44, Sameer Ali 3-9 and Ronaldo Forrester 2-28.

Trinidad and Tobago replied with 125-1 in 34.3 overs. Sachin Dookie led with 45 not out (5×4) while Joshua James made an unbeaten 29 (2×4). McKenzie took the only wicket to fall. The game was reduced to 49 overs due to rain.

At Albion, Windwards got the better of Albion by 18 runs. Windwards took first strike and were bowled out for 118 in 47.4 overs. Tehj Tavernier struck 39 (2×4), Michah Joseph made 12 and Tijourn Pope 11. Extras contributed 22.

Zawandi Whyte claimed 3-26, Bodgenarine Sharma 3-26 and Uri Smith 2-14. Leewards were routed for 100 in 40.4 overs in reply. Whyte was the only batsman that reached double figures with 40 not out (3×4) as Rene Montoute, Dhan-raj Cepal and Simeon Gerson picked up two wickets apiece.

At Everest, the game between defending champions Guyana and Barbados was rained out without a ball being bowled.

The competition continues today with Guyana playing Jamaica at Albion, Trinidad and Tobago facing Leewards at Everest and Windwards clashing with Barbados at the Guyana National Stadium.
