They were met at the Grantley Adams international Airport by friends, family, and members of the Barbados Cricket Association.

Barbados’ captain said that she felt very good and was speechless about their triumph.

It was her second time as captain of the side and she has already claimed a cup.

She said that the Barbados side is a fantastic side and they know their ability, so despite going into the tournament as one of the favourites, they did not feel any pressure.

In the final, Barbados top three bats led the way with a solid foundation, openers Kycia Knight (39) and Hayley Matthews (53) sharing in a 93-run partnership.

The inform Kyshona Knight continued in her run scoring vain and added 68 runs to her already growing total of runs.

Quintyne was undefeated on 31.

“I didn’t expect the final to be so easy and I thought Jamaica would have come harder, despite beating them earlier in the rounds.”

Only Stafanie Taylor, with 47 and Natasha McClean, with 28, offered any type of resistance to the Barbados bowling attack, as they were bundled out for 118.

Barbados took home three individual awards from the tournament.

Hayley Matthews got the individual with the highest score, Kyshona Knight won the most runs in the tournament and Shakera Selman won the most wickets.

Coach of the team, Ezra Mosely, said, “It is always good to win. We went to Trinidad with a plan to win the tournament and win every game.”

Though they played undefeated, one of their games was affected by rain and ended in a no result.

“Before we left, we did a lot of work on the mental side, and then when we got to T&T, we continued that,” Mosely told The Barbados Advocate about how the team was kept motivated.

Last year, despite fielding a team of seven West Indies players, Barbados did not perform well this year with similar numbers. Once again, Moseley said they had to put things right.

“Last year we had about seven and we didn’t do well, so leading up to the tournament, that was always our focus – to go down to T&T with the number of players we have and do well.”

The Barbados women’s team are scheduled to be in action this weekend in the Barbados Cricket Association’s Second Division.
