WIndies Women sweep T20 series against Pakistan Women

West Indies Women beat Pakistan Women in a “Super Over” to win the rain-affected third Twenty20 International on Sunday at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada.

Left-hander Kyshona Knight swung the final ball of the Super Over from Pakistan captain Sana Mir to deep mid-wicket for a boundary to spark celebrations among the Windies Women’s squad and the cluster of spectators that attended.

The result meant the home team swept the three match series, following a sweep of the three matches in the preceding four-match One-day International series that offered ICC Women’s Championship points.

The match had ended in a tie when Sania Khan was run out off the last ball with the Pakistanis needing one run for a victory target of 78 from 17 overs, after rain stopped play for about 1¼ hours.

Earlier, Kycia Knight, Kyshona’s twin sister, led all scorers with 49, but no other batter reached double figures, as Stafanie Taylor’s side, sent in to bat on a hard, true pitch under mostly cloudy skies, were bowled out for 88 in 19.5 overs with Mir grabbing 4-10 from her allotted four overs.

The visitors were seven for one in the fourth over when rain stopped play and seemed on course for victory entering the final over before three wickets fell from successive balls to force the tie.

Summarised scores:

WEST INDIES WOMEN: 88 off 19.5 overs (Kycia Knight 49; Sana Mir 4-14, Anam Amin 2-10).

PAKISTAN WOMEN: 77 for seven off 17 overs chasing a D/L revised target of 78 from 17 overs (Sana Mir 33).

SUPER OVER

PAKISTAN WOMEN 3 runs for 2 wickets lost to WEST INDIES WOMEN six runs for one wicket.
