In the fifth round of matches on Friday 29th September, 2017 at Port Mourant, the unstoppable leader, Essequibo had an early start, winning the toss and going in to have a bat. At lunch they managed to put up 129 for 7 with Kevin Boodie top scoring with 50 off 57 balls before he was out deep mid-wicket. Keemo Paul and Chaitram Persaud both contributed 18 runs, and Ricardo Adams was cheaply out for 10 runs. At the end of their 1st innings, Essequibo summed up 153 all out off of 47.1 overs. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Eon Hooper picked up 5 wickets for 63 runs, Shawn Perreira 3 for and David Latchaya 1 for 16. In Reply, Upper Corentyne managed to tally 190 off 50 overs with Balchand Baldeo 28, Kandasammy Surujnarine 34, and David Latchaya along with Anthony Bramble closing off play with 66 and 43 not out individually. At close of play Upper Corentyne led by 37 runs in the first innings.
At Tuschen, West Demerara won the toss and elected to bat. West Demerara made good use of their decision to bat first, as they rattled up 333 all out off 97.3 overs. Raymon Reifer compiled a well-structured century, before being adjudged lbw by umpire Mikowanyah Yosef-Yisrael. Romario Sheperd provided valuable support to Reifer with 52, to feature in a fourth wicket partnership with him of 107. Good support also came from Mahendra Dhanpaul who made 31, Tevin Imlach 28, opening batsman Tagenarine Chanderpaul 23 and middle order batsman, Travis Persaud 23. Bowling for Georgetown, Leon Johnson took 3 for 67, Robin Bacchus 3 for 40, Ashmead Nedd 2 for 40, while Christopher Barnwell and Steven Sankar took one wicket each for 24 and 49 runs respectively.
Georgetown in reply, was 1 without lost.
In the game of West Berbice versus East Bank, East Bank won the toss sending West Berbice to have a bat with opening batsmen Rapheal Estriado and Anthony Bailey scoring 15 and 16 runs off 18 and 24 balls respectively. Javid Karim contributed 19, Gudesh Motie 21 and Andrew Dutchin top scoring with 28 in the first innings. West Berbice in their first innings gathered 140 all out in 42.2 overs. Bowling for East Bank, Sherfane Rutherford, Ronaldo Ali Mohamed, and Steven Jacobs each picked up 3 wickets for 29, 49 and 30 runs respectively. Also contributing to the restriction was Darshan Persaud collecting 1 for 9. In the East Bank innings, young opening batsman, Sachin Singh scored 29, Sherfane Rutherford 23, and Steven Jacobs with a commendable 61 from 82 balls, closing off the day with 161 for 7.
