Georgetown began their battle on Thursday 12th October,2017 against Upper Corentyne at Port Mourant in the final round of the 2017 GCB/Jaguars 3-Day league. Georgetown in their first innings put up a respectable score of 274 all out in 71.1 overs. Opening batsman, Shemroy Barrington scored 39 off 42 balls, Raymond Perez 41 off 56 balls, Kellon Carmichael 39 off 74, and Travis Mohammed 45 off 42 balls. Bowling for Upper Corentyne Eon Hooper bowled brilliantly, to grab 5 for 58, Sean Pereira 2 for 65 while Demitri Cameron and Balchand Baldeo collected a wicket each for 32 and 13 runs respectively.
In the Upper Corentyne batting innings, Kandasammy Surujnarine scored 54 off 88 balls and Balchand Baldeo not out on 73 off 82 balls. Upper Corentyne at the end of the day’s play totaled 131 for 1 after 27.4 overs. Bowling for Georgetown, Steven Sankar has so far collected 1 wicket for 16 runs.
The match continues at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground from 09 30 hours.
Meanwhile, the three other matches in the final round will commence Friday 13th OPctober, 2017 from 09 30 hours, with Upper Demerara/ East Bank opposing East Coast Demerara at the Everest Cricket Club ground, West Berbice hosting the second placed Lower Corentyne at Bush lot and league leaders Essequibo will battle with third placed West Demerara at the Tuschen ground, which is situated on the East Bank of Essequibo.
