Round four of the GCB/Jaguars 3-Day League went underway On Friday 22nd September, 2017 with Lower Corentyne challenging East Bank, Upper Corentyne versus West Demerara, West Berbice taking on East Coast and Georgetown going up against the top dogs from Essequibo.
Georgetown recorded a mere 117 in 39 overs in their battle against Essequibo over at Tuschen.
Robin Bacchus 34, Steven Sankar 22 and Gajanan Suknanan 12. In the Essequibo line up Anthony Adams took 4 for 33, Keemo Paul and Ricardo Adams both attained 3 wickets for 29 and 38 correspondingly.
In reply, Essequibo managed to put up 170 all out in 51.4 overs with Keemo Paul 43, Kemol Savory 33, Ricardo adams 44 and Kevin Boodie 22. Bowling for Georgetown Gajnanan Suknanan picked up a brilliant 6 wickets for 27 runs, while Ramaal Lewis, Kelon Carmichael, Steven Sankar, and Christopher Barnwell all picked up 1 wicket each. Georgetown commenced their 2nd innings before the close of play putting up a score of 13 without loss.
At Young Warriors, Lower Corentyne amalgamated 148 all out off 54.5 overs in their first innings against East Bank. Alex Algoo 14 off 65, Kevlon Anderson 44 off 98, Seon Hetmyer 28 off 60 and Veerasammy Permaul 17 off 12 balls. Bowling for East Bank, Sherfane Rutherford and Darshan Persaud both picked up 4 wickets off 39 and 30 runs respectively, Keon Morris 1 for 5 runs and Steven Jacobs 1 for 17 runs.
East Bank then set out to bat scoring 132 for 8 at close of play.
At Bushlot, we saw West Berbice taking on East Coast, West Berbice won the toss and placed East Coast in to have a bat and stood at 134/8 off 32.2 overs at lunch. Rajendrika Chandrika scored 14, Brian Sattuar 13, Bhaskar Yadram with 21, Joshua Persaud 19 and Kamesh Yadram so far top scoring with 21 runs.
In the game of West Demerara versus Upper Corentyne played at Port Mourant, West Demerara won the toss and sent Upper Corentyne out to bat. Opening batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine held his post hitting a massive 52 not out before lunch but was then out on 63 after play resumed. Balchand Baldeo added 32 to the score board before he was caught mid-on, and David Latchman contributed 22 off 61. Anthony Bramble hit a massive 62 off 120 and Rajiv Ivan added 47 from 99 balls. At the close of play Upper Corentyne were 267 not out off 100 overs.
Play resumes tomorrow at the said locations at approximately 09 00 hours.
