The 2018 GCB Female Under-19 tournament kicked off on Saturday 17th February,2018 with Berbice facing Demerara on day one of the tournament at Everest cricket ground. Demerara won the toss and elected to bat first putting up a solid 124 for 1 off their 20 overs.
Batting for Demerara, opening batters, Mandy Mangru and Casey Charles put on an impressive performance scoring 41 and 60 runs respectively for their team.
In reply, Berbice failed to accumulate the target reaching 109 for 9 in their 20 overs. Sheneta Grimmond reached 24 runs before she was stumped by Mandy Mangru, while Shabika Gajnabi top scored with 29 runs and the rest of the batters falling cheaply with 1 wicket to spare. Bowling for Demerara, Cherry Ann Fraser and Mandy Mangru collected 2 wickets for 24 and 8 runs in that order and Yogetta Balkishun sweeped up 3 for 27 off the innings.
At the end of the match, Casey Charles walked away with the player of the match for her brilliant 60 runs. On Sunday 18th February, 2018 we see Demerara facing the GCB President XI team from 09 00 hours at Everest ground.
