Australia Women wrapped the T20 series 4-0 by thumping West Indies Women by eight wickets in Sydney. Ellyse Perry’s three wickets in four overs, including a maiden, reduced West Indies to 7 for 107 which Australia chased down in 14.1 overs.
West Indies were rocked by early wickets after they opted to bat. Perry struck thrice in consecutive overs with her medium-pace to leave West Indies reeling at 4 for 36. After the top five batsmen scored only 45 runs together, No. 6 Shemaine Campbelle top-scored with a run-a-ball 34, featuring three fours and a six, and led them past 100 in company of Shaquana Quintyne, who was unbeaten on 15 off 13. Campbelle was stumped for the third time in the series when she fell in the last over to Rene Farrell.
Australia were hardly bothered in the chase as the openers hammered 81 runs in under 11 overs. The stand was broken when Jess Jonassen was caught for a 33-ball 31 and captain Meg Lanning was dismissed for five in the next over. Going strong at the other end, Elyse Villani brought up her fifty in 42 deliveries soon and struck two consecutive fours in the 14th over before Perry scored the winning runs with another four.
Perry was named Player of the Match and Jonassen earned the Player-of-the-Series Award for scoring 130 runs in four innings and taking five wickets.
