The Executives and staff of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) wish to express condolences to the family and friends of the late Stephen Camacho who passed away on October 2, at the age of 69.
It is always heart wrenching to loose our loved ones; Camacho was loved dearly within the cricket faternity. The right handed Guyana and a West Indies batsman played 11 Tests with his highest score being 87. For Guyana, he was exceptional with seven centuries and 24 half centuries.
Off the field, Camacho earned immense respect and admiration as a West Indies Cricket Administrator and Selector. His approach to his job and the manner in which he carried himself exemplified class and success. For 18 years he served as the CEO of the West Indies Board of Control (WICBC) now know as the WICB.
We at the GCB acknowledge and celebrate the legacy this remarkable gentleman has left us. We are praying and grieving with his family at this time. And we wish to let them know that Stephen Camacho will always be remembered!
