Opening batsman, Veer Farhad, slammed an unbeaten century to propel Blairmont Primary to victory over Ithaca Primary by 114 runs in the WICB/GCB/Scotiabank Kiddy Progression One Cricket at the Blairmont ground on Wednesday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Blairmont Primary compiled a mammoth 199 without loss from their allotted 14 overs. Farhad’s 111 included seven sixes and 12 boundaries. His opening partner, Jaheim Elgin, supported well with an unbeaten 44, which included three sixes and three fours.
When Ithaca took to the crease, they never looked threatening. Determined attempts by the batsmen to keep the run rate favourable resulted in the steady fall of wickets. Only opening batsman Samuel Archibald managed to meet double figures with 14 runs in his team’s total of 85.
Veer Farhad and Jaheim Elgin were also outstanding with the ball, grabbing with two wickets apiece, along with Nicholas Nateram and Vishual Persaud, who also accounted for two wickets each.
The competition will continue today with Number Five and Number Eight clashing at the Number Five cricket ground in West Berbice; North Georgetown taking on Marian Academy at Racquet Centre ground; School of the Nation going up against St Ambrose at the Racquet Centre ground, and St Margaret’s doing battle against Winifred Gardens at the Racquet Centre ground.
