Chandrapaul Hemraj stroked a fluent century as East Coast Demerara secured a huge 231-run victory over East Bank Demerara when the Cricket Guyana Inc Local Franchise League 50-over tournament continued yesterday.
Hemraj added 64 for the second wicket with Brian Sattaur (28) after East Coast lost Vishwanauth Rampersaud (04) with the score on nine. After Sattaur was dismissed for 28, Hemraj shared in a third wicket stand of 109 with Steve Ramdass to further frustrate their opponents on a two paced track at Farm. The left-handed Hemraj struck twelve fours and six sixes off 79 balls before he was caught off Jermaine Ramroop for 115. Ramdass hit seven fours in his 59 while Kamesh Yadram made 47 (5×4,1×6). Amir Khan clobbered seven maximums and four fours in a brisk 74 while Paul Wintz got 33 not out as East Coast amassed 379-6 in 50 overs, batting first. Shivram Persaud claimed 2-45.
East Bank hardly threatened as they were sent packing for 148 in 42.4 overs in reply. Dexter Solomon made 39 and Danny Narayan 24; Khan captured 3-27, Rajindra Naikbaran 2-12 and Ramdass 2-17.
At Enmore, Kevon Boodie hit a run-a-ball 90 as Essequibo recovered from their last two defeats to thump West Demerara by 121 runs.
Boodie hit two fours and one six off 110 balls and was the main stay of Essequibo innings as they posted 203 all out in 46.1 overs after they were inserted.
Ricardo Adams made 26 and Royan Fredericks 25 as Jevon Searles bagged 5-34 and Malcolm Hubbard 3-41. West Demerara were bundled out for 82 in 22.5 overs in reply. Chandrika Persaud and Joshua Paton got 19 each; Trevon Garraway claimed 3-40, Fredericks 2-2 and Adams 2-15.
At Cumberland, Lower Corentyne/New Amsterdam Canje beat West Berbice by six wickets. Batting first, West Berbice were bowled out for 127 in 30.4 overs. Kevin Jawahir struck 44, Keon Fraser 18 and Brentnol Woolford 16; Romario Shepherd snared 4-28 and Nial Smith 2-39. NA Canje replied with 130-4 in 28.2 overs. Kevin Ramdeen scored 36, Devon Clements 30 and Gajanand Singh 26 not out. Krishundat Ramoo took 2-32.
At Port Mourant, Upper Corentyne overcame Georgetown by six wickets. Georgetown took first strike and made 124 all out in 45.4 overs. Kemol Savory hit 28, Jeetendra Sookdeo 24 and Kwame Crosse 21; Eon Hooper captured 4-17 and Rajiv Ivan 2-25. Upper Corentyne responded with 126-4 in 25 overs. Jonathan Foo led with 43 and Jason Sinclair 30; Devon Lord had 2-52.
