Parmanand Gootiprasad’s narrowly missed out on a century (98) which helped Patentia Secondary registered a crushing victory over Endeavor Secondary while West Demerara Secondary walloped I’fluenture Secondary as the 2016 edition of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) continued.
Playing at Belle Vue ground in a West Bank Demerara zone fixture, Patentia batted first and amassed an imposing 193/7 in just 20 overs. Parmanand Gootiprasad fell two runs short of a century when he was dismissed for 98. Hemraj Persaud wasthe other main scorer making 30. Bowling for Endeavor, Jairam Parasram took 2/33 and Alex Raul 1/26.
Endeavor Secondary could only muster 78 in their reply off 10 overs. Calvin Durgh top scored with 26. Bowling for Patentia, Wazim Rohaman claimed 3/21 and Satesh Basdeo 2/10.
In another match at Belle Vue, West Demerara Secondary walloped I’fluenture Secondary by 178 runs to book a place in the semi-final of the West Bank Demerara zone. Batting first, West Demerara amassed 223/7 in 30 overs with Mark Wong scoring 37 and Daneshwar Kowlessar chipping in with 33. Bowling for I’fluenture, Aron Singh and Rajkumar Ramroop had 2/6 and 2/45 respectively.
The West Demerara bowlers completed the one sided match by dismissing I’fluenture for 45 in 11.3 overs. Souran Moonsammy was the only batter to reach double figures with 11. Aftab Basir claimed 4/9 while Jason Comacho took 2/12 bowling for West Demerara.
The NSSCL continues tomorrow Wednesday 16, 2016 with matches in Demerara and Berbice. In the East Coast Demerara zone, President College will take on Enterprise Secondary at Enterprise ground from 12:00 noon while the New Amsterdam/Canje zone will begin with New Amsterdam Secondary battling Vryman’s Erven Secondary at Rose Hall Canje ground, Canje Secondary taking on Berbice Educational Institute at Cumberland and Berbice High School playing host to Tutorial Academy at BHS ground. The matches start at 13:00 hours.
