Lower Corentyne Secondary demolished Corentyne Comprehensive to win the Corentyne Zone while Uitvlugt Secondary whipped Linden Foundation Secondary to book a place in the national semi-final as the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd’s Coco Cola and Rainforest Water along with Digicel continued.
At Port Mourant, Lower Corentyne Secondary bowled first after winning the toss. Their decision to bowl first was soon vindicated as they routed Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary for a paltry 56 on 20.4 overs. National under-15 bowler Junior Sinclair led the rout as he claimed 4/12 while Keith Sinclair supported well with 3/9.
Lower Corentyne then knocked off the required runs in 12.4 overs losing four wickets in the process. Kevlon Anderson made 20. Bowling for Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary, Emanuel Seecharan and Kevin Umroa each had 2/14.
At Zeeburg ground, Linden Foundation Secondary won the toss and sent in Uitvlugt Secondary to bat. Uitvlugt Secondary was then dismissed for 120 in 15.3 overs. Chanderpaul Mohabir was the top scorer with 24 while Reaz Khan was left not out on 16. Bowling for Linden Foundation Secondary, Vashon Browne was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/11.
In reply, Linden Foundation Secondary folded for 55 in 14.2 overs as Troy Drakes had impressive figures of 4/8 while Reidell Reddy claimed 3/1 and Reaz Khan took 2/2.
Uitvlugt Secondary will now await the winner of the Anna Regina Secondary and Essequibo Islands Secondary game while Lower Corentyne Secondary will now play New Amsterdam/Canje zone winners New Amsterdam Secondary on Monday at Cumberland ground.
