A magnificent display of spin bowling by Cordel Martins helped Hope Secondary to victory over Bygeval Secondary as the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd’s Coco Cola Rainforest Water along with Digicel continues.
At the Fairfield ground in Mahaica, Hope Secondary batting first was dismissed for 85 in 20 overs. The only batsman to offer any resistance was Rovin Ramsarup with a top score of 27. Doing the damage for Bygeval Secondary was Shoaib Shaw who claimed 3/22.
Bygeval Secondary in reply squandered a chance of victory along with the right to represent Mahaica zone in the second stage of the competition. Their batsmen were bamboozled by Cordel Martins who bowled with excellent control which helped him claim 5/12. His spell broke the backbone of the Bygeval Secondary batsmen’s limp run chase. He was ably supported by Gopaul Applesammy with 4/18 as Bygeval Secondary folded for 70 in 18.2 overs.
Hope Secondary will now face Mahaicony Secondary on 29 January 2016 at Fairfield ground. In Georgetown, Chase Academy will take on St Joseph’s High school at Everest ground from 10:00 hours while Linden Foundation will play against Dora Secondary at Bayroc.
