Chase Academy ousted St Stanislaus and Queen’s College defeated St. John’s College to book the final spots in the North Georgetown Zone of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Bank’s DIH Ltd’s Coco Cola and Rainforest Water along with Digicel.
In the first semi-final played at DCC ground, Chase Academy registered another comprehensive victory by routing St Stanislaus for 50 in 21 overs. National Under-17 left-arm spinner, Ashmead Nedd, continues to spin webs around batsmen as he claim 3/1; Orandi Chase also had a 3-wicket haul (3-10).
Chase Academy got to their target in the 10th over losing three wickets in the process. Joshua Persuad led the way with an unbeaten 33.
The second semi-final was also played at DCC ground. St John’s College won the toss and decided to bat first and fell for 122 in 25.2 overs; only Joshua Raghobar and Rawle Douglas offered much resistance with 33 and 21 respectively. The pick of the bowlers for Queen’s College was Avinash Boodram who had tidy figures of 2/5 off 5.2 overs.
Queen’s College in reply got to 126-4 in 28.1 overs. Clarence Baird smashed a shot filled 45 which included three fours and six maximums. Renaldo McGarrell also contributed 26. Bowling for St John’s College, Barion Dickson had 2/35.
Queen’s College will now take on Chase Academy in the final tomorrow, November 20, 2015 at the Everest Cricket club ground. Play starts at 10:00 hrs.
