At Tagore Memorial Secondary ground, the home team cruised pass Central Corentyne Secondary by seven wickets. Central Corentyne Secondary won the toss and chose to bat but could only get to 118 before they were dismissed in the 16 over. Only Ajai Hemraj with 23 offered any resistance. Bowling for Tagore Memorial Secondary, Vikash Gajadar claimed 4/18 while Antonio February had 3/17.
In reply, Tagore Memorial Secondary didn’t waste any time as they raced to 122/3 in just 11.1 overs with Antonio February returning with the bat to stroke 46 including six fours and two sixes. Dineshwar Budhoo supported well with 25 not out. Colwayne Lyte claimed two of the three wickets to fall finishing with figures of 2/15.
At Wales ground, Uitvlugt Secondary crushed Patentia Secondary by seven wickets in a low scoring affair. Batting first, Patentia Secondary limped to 84 all out in 15 overs as Reaz Khan bagged 4/12.
Uitvlugt Secondary in reply, made light work of their target racing to 85 in just 9.2 overs, losing only three wickets in the process. Dodi Oselmo top scored with 21. Bowling for Patentia Secondary, Hemraj Persaud took 2/19.
Over at Enterprise ground in the first semi-final of the East Coast Demerara Zone, Cummings Lodge Secondary demolished Lusignan Secondary by 127 runs. Batting first, Cummings Lodge Secondary amassed 149/9 off 15 overs in a match reduced by rain. Reaz Mohamed struck 44 and Renaldo Mohamed supported with 18. Bowling for Lusignan Secondary, Danzil Daniels took 3/5 in one over while Ijaz Williams had 2/29.
Lusignan Secondary in reply folded for 27 in 12.3 overs with Robin Williams making 22. Bowling for Cummings Lodge Secondary, Prakash Debidyal took 3/16 while Reaz Mohamed completed a fine all round performance by claiming 3/18.
In the Second semi-final also played at the Enterprise ground, Annandale got the better of La Bonne Intention Secondary by 46 runs. Batting first, Annandale Secondary compiled 111/9 in 15 overs. Tyrese Assanah top scored with 16. Bowling for La Bonne Intention Secondary, Chandrika Ramsammy took 3/22 while Nankumar Kishun had 2/22.
In reply, La Bonne Intention Secondary was dismissed for just 65 in 14.4 overs. Bowling for Annandale Secondary, Tyrese Assanah was the chief destroyer returning impressive figures of 5/10.
Matches continue on Monday, February 1, 2016 when Annadale Secondary takes on Cummings Lodge in the East Coast Demerara Zone final. In the Corentyne Zone, Port Mourant Secondary play Winifred Gaskin at Port Mourant ground and Manchester Secondary will do battle against Lower Corentyne Secodary at Albion Community centre ground while the Mahaica- Mahaicony Zone final between Hope Secondary and Mahaicony Secondary will also be played Monday at Fairfield ground.
