As the 2016/2017 Guyana Cricket Board/ Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society/ Ministry Of Education/National Secondary Schools League (GCB/DMLAS/MOE/NSSCL) continued, East Bank Essequibo Combine crushed Leguan Combine by 160 runs.
Leguan Combine having won the toss, decided to field first. However, their decision to take to the field seemed somewhat insignificant, as their opponents amassed an attractive score of 206 all out, off just 38 overs of their allotted 50 overs. In fact, at one stage East Bank Essequibo appeared set to make an even bigger total than that eventually accumulated, but their efforts were thwarted by Leguan bowlers of Shaquille Trim and Malcolm Caesar who respectively grabbed 3 for 17 off 5 overs and 4 for 63 off 10 overs. Batting for East Bank Essequibo Joel Gill made 34, Safraz Khan 34 and Bashkar Baldeo 31.
In reply, Leguan were bowled out for a meagre 46. Bowling for East Bank Essequibo Azim Mohamed took 3 for 13, Joel Gill 2 for 8, Sukhdeo Singh 2 for 9 and Onassie Kingston 2 for 17.
Action in the combine phase of the league, continues tomorrow, Thursday 16 March, 2017 with East Bank Essequibo-Leguan battling Bartica-Wakenaam at the Tuschen ground from 09:30 hours.
Meanwhile, the GCB/DMLAS/MOE/NSSCL Inter-School national semi-final between Chase Academy and Lower Corentyne will be played tomorrow at the Albion Ground from 11:00 hours.
