Renaldo Renee and Raymond Perez frustrated the Berbice bowlers as Demerara takes the advantage in the GCB/HIH U-19 3-Day 2016 Competition on the second day which was significantly affected by rain.
No play was possible at the Demerara Cricket Club ground between Essequibo and the select Under-17s. However at the Everest Cricket Club ground, play started at 15:00 hours with Demerara on 32/0. Openers Perez and Renee applied themselves and batted sensibly and build a solid partnership.
The pair ceased almost every opportunity to pick the gaps for boundaries, rotated the strike effectively and generally demonstrated excellent communication, alertness and fitness in running between the wickets., building an unbroken 170-run partnership in reply to Berbice first innings of 198 all out. Ronaldo Renee following up his 67 in the first match is on 84 and Raymond Perez is on 64.
Play continues tomorrow, on the third and final day from 09:30 hours at both venues.
