International Business Education (IBE) and Enterprise Secondary booked their places in the East Coast Demerara Zone final when they defeated President College and Cummings Lodge in their respective semi-final encounters of the 2016 edition of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL).
In the first semi-final at Enterprise, President College were dismissed for 137 in 21.2 overs despite another brilliant innings of 85 from Rajendra Singh. Singh, who smashed 158 in their first match was again the main scorer. His innings was decorated with five fours and three sixes. Khrishna Surujpaul was the only other batsmen to get to double figures with 14. Bowling for IBE, Tameshwar Permaul bagged 4/10 and Asif Sammy had 3/33.
IBE in reply, held their nerve to score 138/7 in 24.4 overs with Permaul returning with the bat to score 22. They were also aided with 36 extras from the ‘generous’ President College bowlers. Sachin Narine had 3/10 and David Wilson took 3/36 for the losing team.
In the other semi-final, Enterprise’s 119/7 in 30 overs was enough to give them a 15 run victory and earn the right to face IBD in the East Coast Demerara final. Himnauth Dindyal top scored for Enterprise with 44. Bowling for Cummings Lodge, Skankar Sahadeo took 3/28.
Cummings Lodge fell for 104 in 17.5 overs in reply, failing to bat out the remaining 7.1 overs they had left to score the required 16 runs for victory. Devanand Khemraj top scored with 24. Bowling for Enterprise, Rafeek Azeez bagged 4/19 and Yugendra Samaroo took 3/22.
The final between IBE and Enterprise is slated for Wednesday, 23rd November, 2016 at the Enterprise ground, starting at 12:00 noon.
