Saturday during the Tea break of the seventh round PCL game between the Guyana Jaguars and the Barbados Pride at the Kensington Oval, the Managers of both teams presented the Little Pink Gift Foundation with a team shirt with autographs of every team member from both sides.
Little Pink Gift Foundation was established in 2010 by Breast Cancer survivor Lynda Lewis and provides financial assistance to Barbadian Citizens for their diagnosis and treatment for Breast Cancer.
Although rare, men too can get Breast Cancer. On Wednesday the Barbados team along with several supporters participated in a pink parade to raise Cancer awareness on the 166 square Mile Island and to help raise funds for the Foundation. The venture was initiated by Barbados and West Indies all rounder Carlos Braithwaite who leaves for the t20 World Cup.
Jaguars Manager Rayon Griffith and his Bajan counterpart Wendell Coppin presented the cricket shirt to Mrs. Lewis, while Braithwaite presented the funds raised by the Bajan team. Mrs. Lewis thanked the cricketers for their thoughtful gesture and the Barbados public for their support and informed that a group of Breast Cancer survivors were in the 3Ws Stand watching the cricket.
She was also introduced the Guyanese cricket commentator and Kaieteur News Sports Journalist Sean Devers, who is in Barbados to cover the PCL match. Devers is a brain Cancer survivor. Spectators were encouraged to wear pink during the course of this game which ends today.
