The West Indies Cricket Board is excited to announce that the prize money pool for the 2015-16 Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Tournament has received a significant boost, jumping from just over US $30,000 to more than US $120,000.
The R4Day opened last Friday and the first round concluded on Monday with Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, Barbados Pride and reigning champions Guyana Jaguars clinching conclusive victories.
In addition to the usual Player-of-the-Match and season-ending awards, teams in each round will now receive US $3,000 for each outright victory under the new pay structure for the Tournament.
“We are sure that the increase in prize money will encourage the players to play more purposefully and we hope will really help to build the competitive environment in the Tournament,” said Chief Executive Officer of the WICB, Michael Muirhead.
“We ultimately want as many players as possible fighting for the 11 starting spots in the West Indies Test team, and the WICB is committed to doing all that we can to encourage robust performances from our players and we believe this new cash prize incentive is one way to achieve this.”
Trophies and cash awards for the Tournament are as follows:
