Guyana cemented the top spot in Group B after seeing off St Lucia by 168 runs in the final round of matches in the Group Stage of the Regional Women’s Super50 last Sunday. Guyana won all three of their matches convincingly.
After being put in to bat, Guyana reached 207/5 from their 50 overs thanks to knocks from Kavita Yadram, who scored an unbeaten 53 from 88 balls while West Indies Women’s player, Shemaine Campbelle hit 47. Teaddie Crawford was St Lucia’s best bowler taking 3-17.
In response, Tremayne Smartt ensured St Lucia would never sight victory, taking 4-10 to help send the St Lucians plummeting to 39 all out in just 18 overs. Subrina Munroe complimented Smartt with figures of 5-1-12-2. No batter in the St Lucian team got into double figures.
Earlier in the tournament, Guayna crushed St. Vincent by 158 runs in Round Two. Tremayne Smartt 59 and Shemaine Campbelle 56 saw Guyana to 192 all out from 44.1 overs. St Vincent never got going and was bundled out for 39 from 21.5 overs. Erva Giddings destroyed St Vincent with figures of 9-1-16-6. She got support from Tremayne Smartt (10-2-18-2).
And in Round One, The Guyanese ladies defeated Jamaica by three runs in a rain reduced match. Guyana batted first and made 90/5 from their allotted 26 overs, Katana Mentore top scored with 26. Chasing 84 from 24 overs, Jamaica was bowed out for 81 in 23.3 overs.
Guyana will clash with Barbados in one of the semifinals on Tuesday, 12th August 2014, while Trinidad & Tobago will face Jamaica in the other semifinal.
