2018 GCB/Hand in Hand Insurance Under-19 Inter County Tournament- Essequibo thrashes Demerara

In the final round of the 3-Day format in the 2018 GCB/Hand in Hand Insurance Under-19 Inter-County tournament, Essequibo wrapped up a well-deserved six wickets victory over Demerara on day two of the match played at Tuschen ground on Thursday 18th April, 2018.

Demerara continued from their overnight total of 91 for 5 in 26 overs and tallied 136 all out in 43.5 overs. Christopher Campbell supported with 11 while Sagar Hathiramani contributed 27 as the rest of the batting line up fell cheaply. Bowling for Essequibo, Sherlon Anthony swept up 5 wickets for 36 runs in 13 overs to claim the man of the match award. Support also came from Joel Fortune with 3 wickets; Joshua Jones and Shane Wong collected a wicket a piece.

Essequibo, in reply managed to reach 36 for 4 in just 9.5 overs, winning their round 3 encounter by 6 wickets. Kurt Lovell scored 14. Bowling for Demerara, Ashmead Nedd picked up 3 wickets but his effort was not enough to save his team from defeat.

Over at Everest ground, Select Under-17 beginning their second day on 76 for 4 was bowled out 111 all out in 49 overs. Andre Seepersaud contributed 26 while Yudister Persaud and Nigel Deodat contributed with 13 and 14 runs respectively. Kelvin Umroa bowled exceptionally well collecting 5 wickets for 34 runs and Kevin supported with 3 wickets for 11.

At stumps Berbice was 198 for 4 in 76 overs. Alex Algoo scored 62 and Jason Sinclair 27. Not out were Kevlon Anderson with 73 and Steve Deonarine with 19. Niron Bissu along with Nigel Deodat collected 2 wickets for 44 and 46 runs respectively for the Select Under-17 team. This match continued on Friday 20th April, 2018 from 10 00 hours.
