2018 GCB/Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 Inter-county tournament- Berbice records their second win

On Tuesday 6th February, 2018 commenced the second round of the GCB/ Dave West Indian Imports U-15 inter county tournament, where we saw Berbice taking on Demerara at Everest and Essequibo going up against President X1 at Tuschen.

Defending champions, Berbice, faced Demerara who won the toss and elected to bat but was demolished by their opponent, scoring 50 all out in 20.3 overs from their allotted 50 overs. Chandrapaul Ramraj was the only batsman who scored double figures; top scoring with 11, while the other batsmen didn’t contribute much to the score board. Jonathan Rampersaud picked up 5 for 12, while Jeremy Sandia took 3 for 13 and were supported by Budram Lakeram who took 2 for 2.
In reply, the Berbice batsmen batted patiently scoring 51 for 5 in 30.2 overs. Zeynul Ramsammy top scored with 12 run and was the only double figured aggregate for his side while the other batsmen contributed a small amount of runs to the total. Chandrapaul Ramraj, Vishal Persaud and Krishna Singh collected a wicket each for 9, 4 and 12 runs respectively.

Berbice won their second match by 5 wickets.

Over at Tuschen grounds, President X1 was able to put up an acceptable 81 for 8 in their allotted 32 overs but was not enough to restrict Essequibo at the crease. Hemendra Gurdayalal scored 16 runs, while Saffei Shazad contributed with 24 not out. Bowling for Essequibo, Gladwin Henry picked up 4 wickets for 19 runs. Essequibo in reply, comfortably reached their target with 5 wickets to spare. Ranaldo Scouten top scored with 40 runs, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes, while Jarrad Allicock and Mahendra Basdeo scored 15 runs separately. Bowling for President X1, Yohence Anjoy, Aryan Persaud, Tulesh Shivrattan, Mitra Dhanraj and Shreedat Roopnarine collected 1 wicket each for 13, 11, 7, 13 and 8 runs, in that order.

Essequibo won by 5 wickets.

In round 3, we will witness President X1 facing Demerara at Lusignan and Berbice going up against Essequibo at Everest cricket ground on Thursday 8th February, 2018 from 9:00 a.m.
